[Set, for all of his flaws, wouldn't betray Claude. Although anybody else probably would have found it strange that Claude asked for him to come all the way out here without telling anybody. Set's been betrayed more than enough times by now and yet, seemingly, he hasn't learned his lesson yet.
Luckily, for Set anyway, Claude had no ulterior motive than he was simply paranoid. But when Set sees him, his eyes go wide. This was more than he was expecting and he's...unsure of how to feel that Claude asked him for help.
Luckily for Claude, Set's been dedicated to his magic. He really does want to perfect this. It was for their worlds that they were here, right, so Set needed to do this. As he moves to Claude's side, he's looking over the wound from what he can see.] How deep is it? Is it all the way through? [Maybe that sounds bizarre but he had been stabbed all the way through before he had gotten here so it doesn't seem unlikely? But if that is the case then Set doesnt know if he can fix that and that's what he's worried about. He'd asked Set, hadn't he?]
All the way... What? [Claude has no idea if pain and blood loss is making him a little muddled, but he's not at all sure he understands the question.] If it was, I'd be dead.
[Anyone would be, he's pretty sure... but maybe that's just the logic of a god? He moves aside the cloth pressed to his wound to show him. It's fairly deep but cut no further than skin and muscle; the blade that grazed his side was being swung by an arm weakened by dark magic.]
[He has no idea what's normal and not for humans but maybe that should have been more obvious? But it's good to know he doesn't have that as much to worry about. Set didn't think he could fix a wound quite that bad. But this isn't as bad. When he had been a child, he had never taken lessons seriously. He was magicless and lessons had only reminded him of that fact. With responsibility on his shoulders, he's cared a lot more about learning than he ever would have before. For Claude's sake, this is a very good thing since it means he'll actually be able to heal up the other man.]
It looks like whoever was trying to do this was aiming to kill. [He sets his hands onto the wound, trying to concentrate.] Might take a little while and don't move. [That might be a dumb thing to ask but he'd prefer it if Claude were as still as possible. He can do it but it's going to be slow going as he does. He's never healed something like this yet.]
[The look that Set gives Claude shows how unamused that he is at the attempt at conversation as he works on healing him.]
Don't speak like an idiot. [A little blunt for somebody that's hurt.] Even the strongest fighters will be injured. It's only part of battle. [But at least he's only telling Claude that this is nothing to be judged for. It isn't like Set had never been injured before.
And at the least, Set can see that he's definitely healing up Claude if only a little. The wound doesn't look as big, at least.]
[Despite his best attempts, he can't quite mask the pain written across his features, but his brow is a little less furrowed as Set's healing takes effect, easing some of the burning pain lancing through his side.]
All joking aside... I really appreciate this. [He couldn't have gotten further on his own, and his options for who to ask for help were limited.]
I needed practice for my magic. Finding ways to practice is hard here. [This implies that Set didn't want to help Claude's horrible wound and that isn't true but Set simply isn't thinking about that implication. He wouldn't actually want Claude to be hurt and if he can help then that's good.
Once it's about halfway healed, Set sighs but doesn't speak again. But by now, Set's ka appears and lays down next to Claude, gazing up at him with sad eyes. He's at least showing he's worried about Claude.
And then about fifteen minutes later, Set finally finishes.] I think I did it. [He presses along where the wound was.] Do you feel anything inside? Did I heal you all the way through?
I can respect a pragmatic decision. [Claude smiles drily, whether that's Set's only reason for being here or not. And because he still can't resist, he reaches to scratch Set's ka behind the ears, as if to reassure it he'll be fine.
Once it's done, Claude sits up carefully, craning his neck to look down at the now-healed wound. The skin has healed over entirely, and there's little pain left except a slight twinge he's sure will fade sooner rather than later.]
You did, thank you. [He gives him a respectful bow of the head, unusually serious for a change.] I know you said it was practice, but I'll find a way to repay you for helping out. I really owe you one.
[Set is a little proud of himself. It's felt like slow-going with his healing and he really has been working hard to get better at it. But like he said, it's been hard to do so. You needed people who were hurt and finding a source for that wasn't always possible.
At Claude's words, he isn't entirely sure what to say because he's not used to it. The struggle for words shows itself on his face shortly before he manages on:] When you get yourself hurt again then come to me. [When, not if. He has a feeling that Claude will probably get hurt again. Seems like the kind of guy.] I want the practice.
I'd really rather not get hurt to start with, but I'll keep the offer in mind.
[He gets to his feet, using the tree to brace himself slightly. He still feels a little dizzy and lightheaded from blood loss, which no amount of healing can really fix, but he's sure that will wear off quickly too.]
I'm going to head home. You'd better get going too -- it could be dangerous if you're spotted with me.
[Set gets to his feet, worried that Claude will fall over and only hurt himself again. Which would actually help him with his practice but it isn’t like he’s eager for Set to get hurt either.]
What do you mean? What did you do? [That comes across as a little accusatory but not what he meant.] Besides, it would be a mistake to cross or attack me. Even in this body, I wouldn’t allow it. [A whole lot of bravado there but if there’s one thing he is certain about himself is that he’s strong.]
[Whatever Claude did (because Set's certain this was a Claude problem), he obviously doesn't want Set to know. Which is annoying because he already got Set involved with whatever happened by having Set come and help him.
And it isn't like he's going to wait forever for Claude to tell him.]
I'll be expecting your explanation when you feel better. [But also keeping an eye on him as he wobbles because don't fall and hurt yourself after Set just healed you?]

Are you sure you want to heal me, though? Shouldn't a war god, I don't know, smite down weaklings injured in battle or something?
[He lets out another weak laugh, then quickly stops.] Oops -- no moving, sorry!
[Maybe he should keep his mouth shut while he's at it, too.]

[He shakes his head to clear it and offers Set an absent wave, stepping away from the tree. A little unsteady, but he's not about to keel over.]
I'll fill you in later. Just be careful in the meantime.
